Unlike you, I appreciate both the virtues and failings of NASA.
Humanity may well reach into space. NASA will only be a footnote.
BTW tourism is a dead-end.
There will always be failure when pushing envelope with new technology.
SpaceX has lost far more hardware than NASA to achieve Earths orbit and has not yet even attempted to go beyond the moon.
How do you expect to make initial trips to the moon profitable without tourism?
