lol - yeah...

I’ve asked a few Indians that have been here a while what their goals are....”ultimately get citizenship?” - with the response being “haven’t thought that far ahead...just hoping for a green card in 15 years”. All while they’ve married, had kids, with a home...putting so much on the line with the risk of staying employed.

Some of them I feel for....others I’d have no issue deporting immediately. I’ve met the best and worst of them.

That’s my question, when AI replaces their jobs, will they go back to India?

Regarding “had kids, with a home”, here are the federal programs that help H-1Bs with home loans and ownership :

During the Biden administration, H-1B visa holders were buying houses with 97-100% financing :

https://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/4379360/posts

I asked Google AI :

“Does the FHA have a list of subsidized loans made to H-1B holders?”

It said the “FHA does not collect citizenship or residency status on standard loan applications.”

Google then offered to provide me information on “Conventional Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac mortgages that still allow H-1B borrowers”.

Searching Google with the terms “fannie mae H-1B” yields the following from its AI :

“...
Mortgage and Home Loan Eligibility

Borrower approval: H-1B visa holders are fully eligible for conventional home mortgages backed by Fannie Mae under the same baseline terms as U.S. citizens.”

Can H-1B Holders Get a US Home Loan Without Credit? Truth Explained

Documentation rules: Borrowers must possess a valid Social Security Number (SSN) and a current, verified legal status documented by an unexpired work visa or I-94/I-797 paperwork.”

Searching Google with the terms “freddie mac H-1B” yields the following from its AI :

“...
Mortgage Guidelines for H-1B Holders

Loan Eligibility: Non-U.S. citizens with nonpermanent lawful residency status (such as an H-1B visa) are eligible for Freddie Mac mortgage guidelines on the same terms as U.S. citizens, provided they have valid residency status and meet standard credit requirements (typically a credit score of 620 or higher).”

This link, dated 2025 is shocking. Loans for investment and vacation homes are POSSIBLE :

A credit score of 620 or higher is required to be eligible for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans.
