“Staying pregnant now would mean two newborns eight months apart. It would mean another crib, maybe a bigger car. In 18 years, another stack of college tuition bills.”

Just like worshiping Baal, sometimes sacrificing a child to the worthless god to ensure wealth and success.

We had a boy and when it was time tried for another child. We had twins. (Me - dad, fainted at the news.) What a blessing though! Not that it was all easy, but wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Funny that the option of adoption was never even mentioned by this article! I guess that that, too, would have been "too inconvenient?!"

So when did it become the parents responsibility to pay for their adult offsprings college?

They are adults. We raise them to be independent and to make their own decisions and to make their own way through life.

We did help ours financially, with loans which were repaid. This nonsense that I need to have an extra $100K on hand for each kid is nonsense.
