People in advanced age, extreme pain and/or impaired by meds can forget how many meds they already took. If they have high dosage due to tolerance, the difference between relief and overdose can be one extra dose.
I’ve been in extreme chronic pain and was lucky enough to solve the problem before I needed such strong opioids. But I was already treated like an addict day one since they could not directly see the cause of my pain via x-ray, etc.
It sickenened me more that people immediately made such assumptions while in extreme pain. Drugs like fentanyl are the only relief for some with life long pain and such technology can literally save their life
I figured this would be a very good device for law enforcement since they get overdoses for accidental contact. I had not considered accidental overdose by legitimate patients, but you make a very good point. I also wonder if health care workers need to worry, but I do not know their risk for exposure.
