I will not deny that the state of the economy is the central issue (especially as it impacts the outlook for the future of our younger citizens). “It’s the economy, stupid” has never been more apt.
But there is a battle over truth vs. lies that transcends everything - and President Trump has been fighting it - mostly alone - on so many fronts.
He makes mistakes, but he has really come through for us - risking everything to call out the lies and speaking the plain truth - every rich and powerful would-be tyrant - ever would-be evil empire - every corrupt institution - they all want him dead.
But when he calls out the fake news and deadbeat allies and lying politicians - he is trying to teach us (especially young men) how to tell truth from lies - how to bravely call out the liars.
As bleak as the outlook is for young men, I have to believe that some of President Trump’s message is getting through to them.
The only hope for fixing any of our problems is for young men to learn to recognize the blatant lies they are being told - and to be outraged by it - not to the point of violence - but to the point of championing the truth and fighting back the way POTUS does.
Pick any of the big lies:
“Trans women” are women”
“Securing elections is racist”
“Crossing our borders illegally is not a crime”
“Economic growth is destroying the planet”
“Federal spending is necessary and can’t be cut back”
The list is endless but it is so obvious they are lies and need to be rejected out of hand.
Liars need to be crushed and it was always the job of young men to do that - we have to turn our young men into fighters.
Well put; Trump has his faults and he does a lot of cringeworthy things. But he also accomplishes a lot that Bush Sr. and Jr. never even tried. I’m reminded of the howl of criticism Grant got during the Civil War for being a drunk, which he was. Lincoln’s response was that Grant was the only general who won battles and if needs be, he would send him a pint.
