I’m hoping the midterms will be like the Election of 1864; in September, Lincoln initially thought he would lose due to the massive losses in, and unpopularity of the Civil War; Sherman taking Georgia put an end to that. Perhaps a change of government and the end to hostilities with Iran would accomplish the same.

I’m hoping they won’t be like 1932 (an actual midterm year).

I’m also hoping they won’t be as bad, at the House level (minus 40 seats) and the state level (tons of GOP losses), as 2018 was. Whether it works out that way or not is a tossup. 2018 wasn’t bad in the Senate thanks to a favorable set of elections; 2026 doesn’t have that luxury and the map is unfavorable.

There’s no chance that 2026 will be 1932-style disastrous for Republicans, no matter how much GOP politicians (ones with safe seats for themselves) seem to WANT that outcome so they can stop focusing on actually governing (which they suck at) and can instead focus full-time on fundraising — which they also suck at, compared to Democrats — but they are still much better at that task than they are at doing anything to help the American people.

Losing House control is practically certain at this point; losing the Senate not quite so much; the GOP must hold all of their close seats (like Maine) and ones which shouldn’t be close (Texas, Ohio, Alaska, Iowa....), but are close — or worse.

There’s 9 weeks left to avert disaster by getting our voter motivation/turnout to match or exceed (ha) the massive turnout which will be coming from the left. The $64,000,000,000 question is, how? They’ve done damn near nothing for 2 years but will surely get it together in 60 days. Of course.

Expect 2018 again.

Trump has no new midterm strategy but KEEP all his 1.6 Billion in donation for himself just like in 2018.

Plus Trumps just said blame the GOP house reps not HIM.
