Quite a few years ago there was a movie [which of course I did not see, but read about it), the topic of which was preventing crime by extreme surveillance and monitoring peoples’ behavior, etc.
OK, let’s acknowledge that , maybe, one percent of the data stored in data centers is useful economic, scientific sorts of info. The other 99% is pictures that people take of their lunches, their clothes, the views from a rock they’re standing on, etc. Almost nobody carries a Kodak anymore to save a pic of something they might want to remember which is why one can’t buy a family album anymore and the whole 99% will soon be lost to the ages.
