"Free thought" is a philosophical viewpoint which holds that positions regarding truth should be formed on the basis of logic, reason, and empiricism, rather than authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma.

I’m a good year or two from the surgery, but that’s a good idea. Get one beforehand and learn to use it.
Other things I will definitely do - stainless handles in the shower. I was going to do these myself but there is a 5% chance that I won’t find the stud properly behind the tiled walls and that would mean drilling excess holes. I have a good stud finder, but it’s still a little iffy when going through the tile. So I’ll hire that out.
Definitely need to attach such handles to the studs in the wall since they may take the full weight of my clumsy carcass.
And no stairs in this house so I’ve gotten a small, sturdy 9” wood stool that I can set next to the counter for the stair step exercises that will undoubtedly be required.
But as I said, no hurry. I’m still pretty mobile and the cortisone shots helped a bit. It’s interesting, the activity that I can do without any pain vs the things that cause pain, especially over time. Short walks are fine, long walks hurt, but a short rest seems to reset things. Ladders hurt, but I rarely use them. But I can dead-lift weights with no problem. Well, no knee issues. Do need to be cognizant of lower back pains, but those are muscular in nature.

As I noted up-thread an insert that could replace depleted cartilage in, oh, say, a knee would seem to be a great idea. The book says cartilage can’t be regenerated since it gets little or no blood flow. And I don’t see anyone working on such a fix. The quacks just want to go directly to sawing bones and screwing in new metal pieces.
For my own part my knees just got tight after forty years of training. I haven’t lost any calcium so I haven’t lost any height. My quack took a set of X-rays a decade or so ago and couldn’t find anything wrong. And he knows he ain’t gonna get a crack at hacking on them.
I’ve been taking glucosamine for a couple decades and that seems to have arrested the decline. Recently there’s been some dope that vibration could help regenerate the cartilage so I bought a knee vibrator about a month ago. It’s too early to gage progress but it already seems to have helped the step a bit. Low heat feels good for a bit so that can also help. And flexing in a way that pulls the knee joint apart a couple times a day also seems to help.
Seems like we’re on our own to keep the knees tuned up. I guess the first rule is to quit beating them up.

This seems like a clever way the Administration effectively separated the Mockingbird noise/indoctrination apparatus - make the networks refuse to broadcast. This had to happen somehow - had to get the filter (fake 'fact checkers') out from between the POTUS and the public.

Out here they have been advertising on the radio Stem Cell replacement using your own stem cells. I’ve heard of positive results (without surgery). However, one huge disadvantage is the cost - and insurance won’t cover.

I have a stud finder that supposedly works through tile, and it kind of does but it’s a little vague.
I also have phone images of the wall prior to the drywall and tile installation, but I didn’t put a tape measure up to gauge distances - that would have helped immensely.
Putting the handle at an angle, say, 30 degrees, would help if the stud spacing is uneven. Which it is.
The shower actually has a seating area in it (which is a convenient location to put the soap and shampoo. I’ve never sat on it.
I may do some exploration and try to measure and judge things myself. I have the right drill bits for the tile so that’s not an issue. There appears to be some additional upright members in my photo so I ‘might’ have a good shot at some sturdy mounting. In fact, I’m looking at the framing images right now and I think I see a safe option for one of the bars next to the seating area. The other one would presumably go by the door to the shower.
I have time but I probably should look into it while I also have ambition. The other fixtures are Moen, but I think any brand will do as long as I can match the brushed nickel finish.
