"Free thought" is a philosophical viewpoint which holds that positions regarding truth should be formed on the basis of logic, reason, and empiricism, rather than authority, tradition, revelation, or dogma.

The folks yapping about an AI kill switch are talking past each other and neither/none can address the other. One bunch means that a central gummint like agency should be able to shut it down. The other bunch means that the guy who made it should be able to shut his own system down if his goes rogue.
Can’t use it myself tho. My own kill switch is 12 gage. No blinking light can buy and cut steel, service an old customer, make a bank run, change oil, or do anything else that actually produces usable products. Electronic doodads like, oh, say, cell phones, just slow me down. At the same time I have a room full of really neat machines that can make anything I tell them to. I get a few minutes daily to visit here and run my mouth and that’s about it.
Suddenly the Dems including Obama are worried about AI and want it regulated. Suddenly I am not worried and want it to NOT be regulated. Just on that fact.
