—”I thought they just unleashed 5000 sailors from the carrier alone, sending them all ashore from the carrier and let them run wild!”
Ever since that Guam problem came up, they have had to follow the Rep Hank Johnson rule, with a staggered start.
And many will naturally stagger back to the ship as their shore leave ends.
I was on a little tin can, and some countries would only let half of us leave the ship.
Hahahahahaha love the Hank Johnson reference!
Although to be fair, many military people, including navy people from other ships, hated it when a carrier came into port!
I lived in Coronado, CA. and when a ship arrived, I quickly learned it was time to read a long novel !! They’d follow us into the grocery store!! I was 15 years older than most of them and my roommate 25 years older...but we’d get home and laugh for hours from the comments received!!
..and be lined up down the hall from sickbay the next day to have their bores punched.
Well. Couldn’t they release half the sailors on one side of the island and the other half on the other side so it didn’t tip over?
