Since Mo was a fictional character who never really existed, it's likely that his wives were as well. Only the author of the fiction knows what he intended.

But it is described in their so-called holy book The Koran. If it is not to be believed, then their entire Islamic religion is a lie. By the way, the original Islamic version is watered down in the English translation, softened for the Western eyes and still horrid in details.
