I taught math to my kids the way I learned it - WITHOUT calculators, and with tables for trig, logs, etc. Needless to say, they did fine against people their own age.
I still have my coveted CRC Handbook of Logarithmic and Trigonometric Tables. You will have to pry it...
Learning to interpolate trig/log tables was a useful skill.
