I don’t mind rollercoasters- i was on the one in DisneyLand a few weeks ago- but watching this one makes me want to vomit

My take: The first person had an underlying problem such as an aneurism just ready to pop, and the g forces from the coaster put them over the edge.
The second person read about the first person and is now looking for a payday.
I’m surprised this hasn’t happened more often. I road X2 three years ago. On my 4th and final ride, my head hit the back of the headrest VERY hard, and it had me seeing lots of stars. Not good. I’ve ridden hundreds of coasters, and X2 is one I would never ride again. There’s a similar 4D coaster, Eejanaika, in Japan, but it’s engineered better and doesn’t deliver headbangs like X2 does.
(Never mind that nowadays they don't even have to read, write, or add to graduate with honors.)
The thing about deceleration of the brain is that padding only does so much. And old people have fragile blood vessels, aneurysms, and are on blood thinners.
Blood thinners + small head bump or deceleration = fatal head bleed.
There was a case in The Lancet a few years ago of a young person (not on anticoagulants) who was 'head banging' -- i.e., dancing with exaggerated head movements, and he had bilateral subdurals and herniated and died at the concert.
Rock, Metal, etc., these are pure Darwin.
People need to pull their heads out. It's not 1961 anymore. There's lots of information out there on how not to do stupid stuff and get maimed or killed by it.

Years ago, I read that the trend in roller coaster engineering was to always push the envelop. Make the rides ever more exciting, more thrilling, and more extreme.
I have a bad memory of that park but nowhere near what others in this article suffered through. In 1984, we went to Magic Mountain figuring with the Olympics in town, it wouldn’t be terribly crowded. I don’t remember if it was or not. It was just MISERABLY HOT and I got heat prostration..I couldn’t get enough water to drink - just wanted to find a patch of grass to lie down....Only time in my life that ever happened.
There wouldn’t be enough money to get me on that cotton pickin’ amusement ride in this report....I loved roller coasters in my young years but even that one would be too much for me. The best was in Santa Cruz....
Considering all the people who have ridden the X2 and we get 2 people with serious injuries, I would guess the victims had weak blood vessels(congenitally or disease related), or a coagulation problem, disease or drug related.
Should be warning at the ride.
“Don’t take this ride if you are 60 years or older, or have or suspect you have medical problems. Rarely, a rider may sustain life changing, life threatening, or fatal injuries.”
But....thrills over safety....FOMO is important to lots of people.
