It was a different time, when most coaches served during WWII. And Hayes was a solid conservative who loved this country, and taught an American History class at OSU, and took that as seriously as his football coaching.

I won’t let one unfortunate incident like that define Woody.

PS, I grew up a huge Michigan fan and despised OSU and Hayes back then. (Well the OSU part hasn’t changed, LOL!)
