If done properly, the increased tax revenue from the data centers should free up the tax burden on local businesses. This allows those businesses to keep more of their own money and grow, producing more jobs locally.
But I am dreaming. The local elected scum will just find more ways to spend the money on pet projects.

It would depend on the locality, but around here -- and I suspect in many places -- a new revenue stream will translate immediately into higher pay and richer pensions for public employees, plus a massive expansion of "social services," because lefties still think LBJ and the Great Society had the right idea, only they ran out of other people's money too soon.
