It isn’t that difficult to just abstain from movies. Books, at least the old ones, are better than any movie. Since I’m getting older, I can read books multiple times, each time seems like the first. ;-D
True. I had lost interest in movies a long time. Aside from schlepping my daughters to a few of the age appropriate kids’s movies when they were young, I hadn’t darkened the door of a theater in 20 years.
Then I stumbled across my eye-opener film, realized I had a blind spot, and reengaged.
But again, the upcoming generations are screen addicted. They’re going to be watching something. Movies and tv are still shapers of culture.
It makes a difference who dominates the industry even if we ourselves have lost interest. I’ll never enroll in another college and my kids are out of school. But I’m still concerned with how the educational system is run.
