Enes Kanter sat with the fans on Sunday at a WNBA game and, as it turns out, that’s as close as either he or other WNBA hopeful Royce White is going to get.
According to Front Office Sports’ Colin Salao, the WNBA has ruled both White and Kanter ineligible to play.
“Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White are not eligible to play in the WNBA, league sources tell Front Office Sports,” Salao reported.
In addition, the league characterized Kanter’s antics as “publicity stunts”. It said that it is “not going to give oxygen to efforts designed to mock the league or use this topic to demean and marginalize others.”
The league added that it “will not allow outside pressure or manufactured controversy to dictate league processes.”
Multiple outlets reported the news as the WNBA made its stance on male inclusion clear. The statement does not contain the all-important explanation for why they have excluded White and Kanter.
Are they barred from the draft because they’re men? That would obviously be the correct and sensible conclusion. However, what does that mean for the WNBA’s stance on transgender issues? Does it acknowledge that men hold distinct physical advantages over women that would make trans inclusion unfair? Does it deny a man’s ability to identify himself as female and live his “truth”
And if so, does the league no longer support trans rights?
Kanter’s efforts to join the league became the focus on Sunday as he was singled out for an angry tongue -lashing from Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud. Kanter then stood with his arms extended, jawing back at the enraged player before security escorted him out.

Yep. If Enes wasn’t prepared to sue after the entire set-up, then he did it all for nought. This is a golden opportunity and I’m sure he could find a legal team to take this on pro-bono.

sounds to me like Freedom and White have grounds for a monumental lawsuit against the WNBS alleging slander ...
They are trying to save women sports by illustrating the insanity of trans women which is biologically impossible playing against women.
I do not understand why the WNBA is trying to destroy the WNBA. Just make it simple. XX is a woman. XY is a man. XY can not play in the WNBA. Problem solved.
PS Katalin Clark is the best thing that has ever happened to the WNBA but many but not all hate her. Clark has increased audiences greatly. That means money for all. Why do they hate her? If she were black this would not be happening and the black audience and white audience would be cheering her talent.
Relative to NFL football, the black and white players share a common goal, WIN THE GAME and do not give a damn about your color. Just win the game. Why in the hell is the NBA subsidizing the WNBA.

That was my first thought. They need to finish what they started and not let this drop. Take it all the way to SCOTUS if necessary.
The league doesn't need competition in their mocking.

Someone needs to get the WNBA on the record on whether or not there have been in the past or are now any biological males playing in the WNBA.

So now we’ll see if Enes Kantor and Royce White are serious. And if they’re just showboating or walking point for some serious people who want to drive home the issue.
Obviously they should challenge the WNBA in court and force the league to justify an arbitrary disqualification.
Assuming the league provides a justification, which would require a set of objective standards on the “what is a woman” question, follow up with lawsuits demanding equal application.
Any civil rights attorney knows how to do this.
