The Army Air Forces always reported stellar numbers of planes shot down in the ETO during World War II that weren’t particularly accurate. The Pentagon even developed a discount “formula” to try and divine the real numbers. Then, there was the “Body Count” reports in Viet-Nam. Hope that isn’t what’s going on here.
