Maybe they just need to close the Midway. The primary purpose used to be for farmers to show cows, hogs, sheep, etc. while dealers and manufacturers would show the latest farm machinery and tools. At night there would be tractor pulls and country and western concerts.
The Illinois state fair had a lot of brick cow barns with fabulous brickwork from the turn of the century.
The Minnesota State Fair midway has been the amusement park area of the state fair for at least 40 plus years. I’ve lived here my entire life. Machinery row and the ag buildings has/have most of what you’re talking about, and to the best of my knowledge, minus the tractor pulls, which are likely held in the outdoor arena/stadium if at all.
