Since data centers generally bring in people from outside to run them once they're built, they generate no jobs in the communities they ruin apart from construction work during the initial process of building them. Once they're built, they contribute absolutely nothing, unless you see taking up valuable real estate that could be better spent on other things and raising everyone's utility bills "good for the community".
Where did you get that lie? The Data Center where I worked in the 1980's and 1990's didn't bring in people from outside to run them. We transferred from existing wire centers and switching centers right in the area.
And it made sense too because we already knew our corporation and the training was minimum. For me I went from a 20 mile commute to a 7 mile commute right down on I-285. I was able to get there on back roads to lessen the traffic.
