Rapist who terrorized America’s top party school learns fate after bungling mad dash for freedom (UCSB)

The UCSB rapist who once made a mad dash for freedom after his conviction is now staring down decades behind bars.

Arian Eteghaei, 24, was sentenced on Monday to 30 years to life in state prison by Judge Von Deroian for sexually assaulting multiple women while he was a student at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Jurors found him guilty of forcible rape, forcible sexual penetration and misdemeanor domestic violence.

They also found true a special allegation that the sexual offenses were committed against more than one victim.

The case involved five women who were sexually assaulted and a sixth woman who was the victim of battery when Eteghaei was a freshman.

While deputies were handcuffing him and escorting him toward a secure holding area, Eteghaei suddenly took off, sprinting toward State Street in downtown Santa Barbara and reportedly shouting profanities.

A second officer rushed in, while two bystanders also helped pin Eteghaei to the ground.

"Rape should be death penalty."

No. Too many women are eventually found to be lying.

I agree with both of you.

1. The whole “date rape” thing and “the morning-after regret” accusations have become ridiculous. Some of these women drink all evening and get down to snoggling with a stranger from a bar or mere acquaintance from their dorm or from work and then holler rape, ruining a man's life after literally leading him on. This is especially egregious if she claims inability to give consent because she was drunk, but he gets no pass for a poor decision because he was drunk from having been drinking with her.
2. However, forcible rape by violence or at the threat of a deadly weapon, penetrative stranger rape, unprotected and unconsented rape by a person with an life-altering disease like AIDS or syphilis, deliberate homosexual rape of a heterosexual person and vice versa, stranger rape resulting in pregnancy, and any rape whatsoever of a pre-pubescent child should merit the death penalty.

As it is in some states now, a rapist can sue for custody of a child he created through rape, putting the mother through hell and warping the child's morality.

Political correctness prevents hetero victims of homosexual rape any consideration for the additional psychological harm they must then work through, and presumably the same for hetero-on-LG rape.

PTSD sufferers from being held at knife or gunpoint or having serious bodily injury with lifelong effects get no relief when their rapist is out in ten, if even that long.

And the rape of prepubescent children is a permanent negative alteration of their psyche and that of their parents. Most especially if the rapist is out at large again in a few years, or months.

I’ll add this, not sure if you agree: A demonstrably false accuser (Crystal Mangum comes to mind as exemplar) should face the same penalty as her victim would have faced, had he been guilty. False accusations need to be taken seriously; today they aren’t. I recently asked a retired trial lawyer (also my uncle) about witness perjury; he told me that in his State (CA), even the most obviously dishonest witnesses are almost never charged or tried.
