During Joe’s reign as president, he made a claim that he was going to “cure” cancer. That was probably shortly after he was diagnosed with it. He was about to say “beat” cancer but caught himself almost admitting the truth.

Irony is interesting, isn’t it?
This isn’t exactly the same, but I recall when my inlaws were shopping around for an assisted living facility. I cringed when my FIL, Mister Arrogant, was making disparaging remarks about the all of the walkers in the hallways. How he was better than that and wouldn’t ever use one. It sounded like he was “hexing” himself.
It turns out, he did have to use one. His end of life wasn’t pretty and included situations he criticized other people about.
