There is little to say as a proud Model 3 owner 95% is spot on for rural driving included its 99% in urban use for hands free FSD.

The proof is in the pudding this is the 21st century, it's no longer its coming its already here with autonomous driving. The only question is how long until human controls are removed from vehicles due to insurance companies not state or federal mandates the insurance companies will simply make it to expensive for humans to absorb the risk of operations.

Huff and puff but search your feelings you know this to be true. Corporations run America not voters that's just fact.

Also note except for the North Fing slope there was chargers for Tesla everywhere you could conceivably drive Tesla has blanketed the continent with chargers 375 radius in a Model 3 LR means virtually no where in North America are you outside a charger range and even in the most remote Arctic circle location a generator off grid at that can sent you back to actual civilization.

We have taken our Model Y deep into Big Bend and to Burning Man in Black Rock with our 15kw trifuel genset on the hitch cargo rack and a couple of Jerry cans. We even buddy charged so fellow Tesla peeps with it way out there so they could run camping mode all day and night.

For those wondering its about 32 miles of model Y range per gallon of generator fuel used its good enough and the generator runs as its peak efficiency point you just set the amp draw to match its peak point easy peasy.

99.9% of miles is off solar panels off my roof once a year we road trip to BFE and take a genset we already own for storms so zero opportunity costs with us not only to charge if needed but to run the whole camp set up AC too.

I did Key West to Homer Alaska via back roads, the Alaskan highway up to Fairbanks and back into Homer on my Harley in 10 days 9,132 miles and slept outside beside the bike.

No gps, just maps, no hotels and did the necessary repairs with a tool pouch.

F’ EVs.

Maybe try holding your breath until it happens.

I got a TESLA one year ago. Yesterday I drove for 8 hours using FSD and felt fine at the end. Before FSD I would have been exhausted by the end. My total cost to charge during the trip was $18. If anyone has questions about Tesla or FSD feel free to DM me.

I becomes more than just a “freedom” issue - it’s also a personal safety issue. A FSD vehicle won’t help you escape a raging mob that surrounds you. It could also enable regulation to stop you from where you want to go, e.g. “15 minute cities”.

These are more problematic in the USA than elsewhere, the EU will likely go in the direction you imply first....imho.

Glad to hear that someone had that good luck with a Tesla. I still can’t afford an EV & don’t want one, altho I admit they do have certain advantages. Certainly do not trust a self driving vehicle, particulary in heavy traffic, but maybe one would not normally operate there under certain conditions. My car is old, but affordable, has about 90% of the features I would use anyway, & gets good mileage. Not sure how it would compare to most EVs in this respect, but we have few places here to charge one, so I would need a home charger.
