True, but HRs are loaded with ‘Karens” who go with the latest fad/dictate over hiring the best candidates. Been there witnessed it and left it. HR is an unnecessary cost burden on companies. The front line manager knows what is needed and should be the one hiring.

That is so true. We had staffing issues constantly in transmission operations at TVA because of HR. They were big on quotas and educational credentials (along with woke nonsense) but had absolutely no idea what our groups needed in terms of skills and attitude. And even moving someone in from another department took a huge effort. Many times, management wanted the guy, the guy wanted the job, but HR stood in the way. In the meantime, because of staffing shortages, we would work extra days (on salary so no overtime) to cover the open shifts.
