Rush was polarizing and appealed only to one side of the political aisle. McCain’s lowering was undeserved, based on what we know about his crimes, but that may have been part of his plea/execution deal to preserve his family’s dignity. Colin Powell was admired on both sides of the aisle and was a veteran of 3 wars and a General who served honorably. I don’t know how these things are decided but, on the surface, all seems to have been normal or expected wrt the people Keflavik mentioned.
