As an aside, if the good guy was using a 5.7x28, can we be sure that the bad guy offed himself? The bullet diameters are virtually the same (5.56 vs. 5.7). Unless the bad guy took the fatal round under the chin, I think that the good guy may have hit him a few times.

Interesting thot but , yeah, the difference between the two hits should be obvious. 5.56 is more or less 3X the energy of 5.7. The 5.56 wouldn’t leave much head or chest. The 5.7 would just punch a hole especially since it seems to have been suppressed which costs a bit of the energy.
It’s worth remembering that there are two good guys. The first responder had the 5.7 and seems OK. The second is an ex cop and took a serious hit in the arm.
