Back in the early 90's, the Willow grove Naval Air Station had A-10's flying the pattern doing touch-n-go's. One had a catastrophic failure at 500 feet over a residential neighborhood. He stayed in the plane, threaded it down a street between parked cars and shade trees. He ejected from the mess and landed in a tree with survivable injuries.

That pilot saved life and property in a big way. He could have punched out right away, but he knew the people in the neighborhood would die if he did.

Imagine looking out the living room window and seeing a Warthog blazing down the street and throwing parked cars on everyone's lawn??!!!
