Sophie Cunningham's outspoken defense of women's sports has sparked a series of angry protests that show no sign of slowing down.
The Indiana Fever star's recent comments about 'protecting young girls' from transgender athletes in sports has created huge controversy on both sides of the arguments, leading to a series of anti-trans rallies outside WNBA arenas.
The Daily Mail can reveal that two further protests are being planned in the coming days, starting on Friday night outside the Portland Fire's Moda Center, where the Fever are due to play at 10pm EST.
On Sunday, Indiana travels to Minnesota to face the Lynx, where another demonstration has been slated ahead of the 1pm EST tip-off.
The planned rallies come just days after the issue exploded in Seattle, when a calm protest outside the arena was followed by a courtside meltdown from a Storm co-owner which led to her being suspended for five games by the team.
After two young girls brought in signs pledging their support for Cunningham and the 'protect women's sports' movement, Celeste Keaton allowed her temper to boil over when she confronted them and allegedly told them they were '****ing insane'.

Lighten up, Francis...
Just to make it clear, I completely agree with you and everything in this thread, my previous comment to you was just completing the line in the movie quote you paraphrased.
Some people might take it out of context and think I was being dismissive.

So many people NEVER learn this until a bullet passes through their foreheads.
Professional sports as such is a form of social corruption. This is just an extreme example.
Good for Sophie!

“How can anyone support men in womens sports?”
The question is how can women in a sport that is not entertaining in the right way and has historically failed because they don’t have intimidating goons or are allowed the violence like the NBA can to get the seats filled?
Eye liner, wigs, and sinewy bodies doesn’t sell for the sport. It might sell at a playboy mansion, but fans who pay the money don’t pay for that. They want scoring, body contact, and intimidation. The women don’t supply that. So they have a choice:
They can find women who will hit hard enough to injure, thus taking out star headline players like Clark, or, they can tolerate the infiltration of “kind of” women to generate the vehemence to keep up with the NBA, which does sell. Gone are the days of the women’s strong points like ball control, passing, and racing down the court. It’s been substituted with body contact, slapping, pushing off, and cheap shots. That sells, the game in its youth won’t. There is a difference between basketball and ice hockey: one admits to questionable contact while the other learned to sell it out in the open.

(personal private note to pburiak: heh, heh. i told them there's an fr dictionary. π )
The WBNA provides more entertainment and headlines as a woke, lesbian shit-show political spectacle than it does as a sports league.
I am in NY and was looking to see when the Fever came to town as i would go and rally outside a game for Sophie...i had no clue but the Liberty play their home games in Brooklyn, and i’m not traveling to that craphole...
“And if any of you homos mention Bethany Griner, Iβll kill you!”
I’m not a homo by far but Griner would need to add a lot of weight in muscle, bone, and tendon strength to compete in the NBA...like about 25 pounds of it her chemistry won’t allow. She couldn’t stay up with them speed wise, doesn’t have a perimeter shot, and would be knocked in the fourth row on contact underneath. Women don’t have those types of tools available. It’s a different game than the NBA and the WNBA is getting killed financially to learn that...again.

And if even an average male college basketball player played in the WNBA his team would go undefeated and he’d average 50 points a game easy.

Time for Indiana Fever to relocate to Austin, TX.
“The WNBA doesnβt allow trans players.”
There are currently no active transgender women playing in the WNBA, though the league does not have a ban on transgender players. The most prominent openly transgender and non-binary player in WNBA history was Layshia Clarendon, who played 11 seasons in the league for the Minnesota Lynx, Los Angeles Sparks, and New York Liberty before retiring. So by their rules there are ways to get around the issue.
“NCAA as well”
Basketball has been one of the sports that appears to be transitioning. They decided in Feb of 2025 that may lead the way for trans athletes to compete in women’s sports. A good article on this is here:

They are already here. And the epitome of this world wind, the IOC, still is unresposive to making sure of this as they are subective thus inconsistent with their follow through testing. The pros are just a contract away.
