Didn’t the Moors control most of Southern Europe until the Norman Conquest ?
I know the Normans controlled most of Italy. All the way up to Assisi at one point. There is a Norman castle at the very top of the hill in Assisi. Which is in central Umbria, Italy.
Down in Palarmo, Sicily there is Greek, Roman, Moorish and Norman architecture. Garabaldi unified Italy in the late 1800s. The Nazis took it over in WW2 until it was invaded by Monty and General Patton’s 3rd army.
