The last forced State sterilization happened in 1977. I’ve often wondered if this was because abortion was legal by that time and the doctors made more money from the abortions.
I know of a woman in her 20s, white, 5 kids from different fathers with one with lifelong serious health issues. Can’t work and depends on welfare- particularly for the disabled child.
I’d support the state telling her “ Get sterilized or no more money!”
I think you hit the nail on the head. Once abortion was out there, they didn't need it, and didn't need to disturb some of the more squeamish sensibilities.
The progressives were the ones who started eugenics and sterilization, but now they blame it on everyone else?
