If there was an imminent threat, Israel would have removed it with or without our help. If there is a future threat, Israel can and will take care of it without our help. (Their intel on Iran is second to none).

A tried-and-true tactic of the neocon warmongers is to treat extraordinarily low-probability events like they are imminent threats. That way they can hysterically dismiss any voices of reason that recommend incremental containment measures and diplomacy.

Honestly, I don't even think Trump was swayed by them. He simply thought this was going to be another Venezuela and over with in a week.
