Context of the Files Public Availability: Much of the voter registration information (names, addresses, party affiliations) is considered public record in most states and can be legally purchased or accessed by journalists, political campaigns, and foreign entities.
Despite claims of sweeping “illicit acquisition” of up to 220 million voter files, investigators concluded that the downloading of public files did not mean voting machines were breached or vote tallies were manipulated.
