
When I was driving I always tended to have my window open to some degree, since I preferred a steady stream of fresh air.
I may be the exception.
Many folks would rather drive around with windows all the way up, relying on AC systems.
This group could benefit from a low level vibration from sirens. Also, many of today’s E-Cars are virtually silent, not giving much warning to their approach. Some of the emergency vehicles may also be electric and thus, muted.
Interesting that LAPD, a supposedly leading edge LEA, is just now placing these low-frequency sirens into their fleet. The ambulance services around here have been using them to good effect for intersection clearance for some time.
They are still driving Crown Vic’s? The last one rolled off the assembly line in 2011!
Feelings are really, really, important in California, it is thoughtful of the LAPD to reach out like this.
So drivers will either recognize that an emergency vehicle is approaching, or think they are feeling an earthquake?
