It may very well be that he has been advised that the Iranians can dig that stuff up and start processing it again, so the longer term elimination of the threat requires it's seizure, because the next Democrat president will absolutely let Iran make nukes.
And he may have been advised that Batboy took the stuff. Trump called it nuclear dust. What he was trying to say was the containers were not destroyed in the first place. Luke Skywalker could not find the garbage chute.
They are not there looking for dust, and they are not seizing a damn thing without a massive land invasion. That is an Army job and there isn't even talk of any army being there, much less an army of hundreds of thousands.
But it is just like North Korea. Their leaders are insane, and if they get a nuke, they will surely use it. The main threat posed by possessing a nuke is that they are no longer subject to coercion.

I think it is absolutely a necessity to stop Iran from ever getting a nuclear weapon. We should have been following Curtis LeMay's view of things from the very beginning. It was a mistake to let other hostile countries ever get their hands on nuclear technology, but Iran is particularly a special case because of their fanatical religious beliefs.
A nation that will stone people to death for sin, will absolutely nuke people to death for sin. They hate the Israelis, and they also hate us, probably because of how we put the Shah into power, and mostly because we have been supporting Israel.

Kim Jong Un knows that he will be wiped out if he hits us or our allies with a nuke. The Iranian mullahs know this too, they just don't care. They have to provoke the final war to bring back their Mahdi, and they will absolutely do it regardless of any retaliatory threat.
