It pays to shop specials, look at ads and use coupons. I shop WalMart when we are at our cabin in northern Minnesota as resort areas tend to have ridiculous prices on nearly everything. However, at home, I shop HyVee, a regional grocery chain, but carefully look at the weekly ads and store specials. I am amazed that many people use the to your door delivery services for groceries. Their shoppers just grab the first thing on the shelf and the fees for the delivery are significant.

I do BOGOs at Publix. One day I noticed that a lady didn’t take a second item on BOGO sale. She thanked me and then moved on.
I then realized she was a ‘shopper’ and the person on her list had only listed one so that was what she would get.
To heck with any savings.
