That was not actually my point. The British monarch is just a puppet, and has been for centuries. In fact, he doesn’t even write his opening speech to Parliament. The majority party writes it for him.

If for any reason Charles does not sign off on a new government, Parliament could simply meet and declare Britain to be a republic. Then Charlie and company are off to the US to live with Harry and Megs.

So, yeah. Charles will sign off.

The monarchy still supposedly commands the military. It would be interesting if the Fabian Society\Labor parliament would declare a monarchy. What the would the military would do!
