I like Farage. But he’s wrong here, and I’m certain that he knows it.

Burnham became prime minister via standard procedures that are centuries old. No coup. It’s just how the British election system is set up.

Credit to our Founders for picking a different system.

Rupert Lowe is better.

True. And it's not like he's an autocrat. The Labour Parliament appointed him. The Labour Parliament can remove him. And the people voted in that Labour Parliament.

Exactly right. Bugs me when people on our side who are right ruin it by going ridiculously overboard.

Yes. It's a common event. The office of Prime Minister has never been elective.

Since WW2 the ruling party has often changed its leader, and consequently the PM - 10 times in all. Sometimes for reasons of health, sometimes for reasons not unlike the present:

Churchill/Eden

Eden/Macmillan

Macmillan/Hume

Wilson/Callaghan

Thatcher/Major

Blair/Brown

Cameron/May

May/Johnson

Johnson/Truss

Truss/Sunak

Starmer/Burnham

By contrast, over the same period the PM has changed only eight times as the result of a general election.
