THE SPIN BEGINS: "'The Odyssey' seizes $124M opening in BOX OFFICE TRIUMPH."

"2026's biggest live-action debut."

What they DON'T tell you:

It's only the THIRD biggest opening of the year, behind "Toy Story 5" and "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie."

TRANSLATION: Not as good as a talking toy and a video game movie.

They don't tell you it likely needs around $800 million worldwide just to break even.

Not to make a profit.

Just to break even.

And the studio typically keeps only about 50–55% of the domestic gate - and less internationally.

And the $139.6 million from 73 international markets is absolutely DISASTROUS for the great Nolan when you consider that his own country, United Kingdom/Ireland, only spent $17.4M...

...with every other territory coming in way less.

And finally, they don't tell you that "Odyssey" only has one more CLEAR weekend before "Spider-Man" webs up the box office.

A huge opening?

Relative.

A financial triumph?

We shall see.

The Odyssey box office chart

Probably would be better.

Estimates are that it needs to make 650 - 725 million to break even. Opening weekend was spiked by fools paying $30 for IMAX theaters, that will die off IMO.

I believe it will make money, especially after digital release. But nowhere near what the producers were hoping for. The spin will be glorious to behold.

Maybe he got paid...

Not really. You are the one who is ignorantly deficient.

The movie made 264 million dollars worldwide in just the first 3 days. With an A Cinema score, movies most often make about 4 times its opening weekend. That is a billion dollars. I fully explained why it is a success.

I loathe liberals who twist facts and are so biased to their own way of thinking that facts mean nothing and declare what you are seeing is not true. I also loathe it just as much when a conservative tries to twist the facts and pretend what actually happened, did not happen.

I know you had your heart set on the movie failing. It didn’t happen. Nolan is way too popular for that to happen. 43% of those who purchased a ticket, did so just because Nolan directed the movie.

It’s disappointing to you that people went to see it and actually liked it. I understand, but Life will go on for you.

Even Michael Knowles was surprised and has actually recommended going to see it. Knowles did not expect to like it, but he did.

Word of mouth is so bad. This is going to drop HARD after the showings that already sold out months ago.

Michael Knowles was surprised and has actually recommended going to see it.

I don't know who that is. Everyone I spoke to has hated it. The woke author whose translation the film is based on hated it. It's getting ripped to shreds on social media. The second weekend numbers are going to be brutal.

Yes, most movies, the big event ones, have a 50% drop. It will still make over 500 million in the US.

Achilles is not in the movie. The she-he is in the movie but not sure which role it plays

They presold the expensive IMAX theaters to give the impression of a larger turnout than it really was.

I have never in my entire life seen such heavy-handed marketing. “It will change your life!”

If they can pull this off, they will have finally figured out how to out-game the YouTube critics.

“Achilles is not in the movie. The she-he is in the movie but not sure which role it plays”

The 95 lb. Hobbit is somewhere in the movie. Significant enough that “IT” was trotted out for some of the multi city Cast promotions. Token LGBT- XYZ appearance that Hollywood demands.

Actually, it has an A cinema score, which 11.9% of all movies receive. That means good word of mouth, which translates to a bigger box office.

Social media preaches to the choir. It certainly did not hurt opening weekend.

The woke author of which you mention, her version is just used in a small part of the whole movie. It is more of a composite of multiple translations. Knowles is part of the Daily Wire gang.

I don’t know if I will see it myself.

They will make money off this movie.

Just so they can say that their woke agenda is working. Even if this is only 1 out of 100.

Nerdrotic review says it is an underwhelming 3 hour disappointment and rather boring. Leaves out a lot of what should have been in there.

I have no desire to watch this movie. Maybe the story has been filmed too many times.

This is the same type reason I never watched the Titanic. The story had been around too long and I already knew the sorry ending.
