AI teachers might be weird, but some of the real teachers are worse.
I agree.
“...but some of the real teachers are worse...”
This bill doesn’t change a thing. For Governor Gavin Newsom, a “natural person” is defined strictly as a living human being, specifically in contrast to artificial intelligence or automated systems. Who programed the computer instruction being used over the last 30 years, at least, if it wasn’t human and used for instruction even to the point of the teachers allowing the computer to do all the work? And during the school closures with covid, I didn’t see anything about the classroom instruction not being left to home computers.
The only difference between computer and live teacher instruction is the ability of the live teacher to go unchecked in their job many times overstepping their authority or knowledge and presenting a personal opinion rather than approved school instructional materials and theories. At least with AI, the instruction can, in their capacity, be limited to the approved standards-aligned lessons as long as the instructors do not vary from the acceptable creation. At least they started with something the parents could evaluated and determine it’s validity. Otherwise it’s “teachers gone wild” if they are not in line with their district or even school accepted ideology with the ability to go off script.
