Perhaps the Sunni neighbors will snuff out Shia Islam for the near future?
Iran is stronger militarily than all of its Sunni Arab neighbors to the west. It's not stronger than Sunni Pakistan to its east, but Pakistan isn't going to engage with Iran militarily.

Not so sure that’s true anymore. We’ve significantly degraded their military capabilities.

Maybe not, but the Paks are none too happy about the Iranians hitting their (Pak’s) oil suppliers.
