Average $900,000 for a single story home with no basement on 1/4 acre lot with the backyard surrounded by a 6ft brick fence to help keep the dust down and the rattlesnakes out (really).

The prices have almost doubled in 10 years. Why? Is it Blackrock and Vanguard buying up neighborhoods and renting the homes?

Neither Vanguard nor Blackrock buy physical real estate to rent or to sell. That is one of those lies that has been regurgitated so often by the gloom and doomers (not saying this is you) that it has become "accepted truth". Both companies simply hold stock in publicly traded real estate companies and home builders for their funds and ETFs
