My first Sig was the 226 Legion. Outstanding pistol but a bit large for my frame for EDC. I use it for 2 gun, though.
After that the 229 just had to join the family.
If I may make a recommendation watch the Sig website for sales on the Mitch Rosen leather. They take a good bit of breaking in but once that’s done they’re smooth as a prom queen’s thighs.

Just reposting the list from the video so y’all don’t have to watch the whole thing. But I think a good .38 revolver is solid carry choice. No stovepipes, no failures to feed, light strike won’t slow you down.
I have fired lots of rifles and lots of pistols, but never a P229. I need to make a point of trying one.
No mention of a Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt with a 4-5/8” barrel.
250-300 grains at speed gets the job done.

Glock 13 is my pocket pistol and normal carry. You do not even feel it is on you. I do not go places where I need something like my Glock 35 below.
Glock 35 in 40 caliber is my serious pistol that lives by my bedside with green laser light and tactical light. It is many rounds of grief.
Hanging on the wall is an AR-15 and AR-10 beneath my robes. In the corner is a 12 gauge pump action shotgun. First two rounds are #6 shot, next 3 are 00 buck. I live in a rural area. At best the county sheriff would need 10 to 20 minutes at best to assist me if in danger. You are on your own. Oddly little crime is in our area. Most that live here do exactly what I described above.

I am an old man of many years, 78. I have been shooting since 12 years old. At 13 I was given a bolt action 22 caliber Remington rifle for my own. My grandfather allowed me this and ammunition to be kept in my custody. In that era the concept of using that rifle in an illegal or dangerous manner did not exist. I can still shoot well but that 300 Win Mag hurts now. I have never used a firearm in anger. If I do I will kill you after I have done everything possible to not make this necessary.
PSA Dagger compact, SW 915, or 38 Special in nightstand, and Ruger LCP for pocket extreme stealth situations!
For super secret squirrel carry a P365 (before all the variants). For cool weather where concealment is less of a problem a SIG Match Elite 1911 in .38 Super. For hiking in the NM mountains, a Smith Pre-27 3.5” barrel in .357 with 158 grain semi wadcutter. Conceal revolver, a first year Smith Combat Magnum (pre-19) that’s been slicked up with .38+P or some of my vintage stash of .38 Super Vel.
Until I sold it, my deep backup was a Smith 351 in .22 Magnum, 7 shot at 11 ounces, and would both perforate, deafen, and light them on fire.

I bought some solid copper ammo awhile ago after seeing some videos. They would bring the ammo out to police departments and have them shoot at cars and stuff. Amazing penetration through metal and glass, and when it hits body tissue it tumbles to cause the damage (rather than expanding).

The military big wigs chose the 30-06 for the Garand because they already had so much of that round for the 1903 Springfield. Not anything to do with performance.

I like 1911s too. I have three. A Colt Series 70 Gold Cup is my most accurate hand gun. I have carried it before in winter, but it is heavy.

Yeah they’re a little weighty.
I’m six foot and 225. Weight is not a problem for me other than I have no butt. Sturdy gun belt helps. Carry mine year-round.
Nice thing about winter is you can carry the biggest handgun you’ve got. Getting to it in a hurry may be a bit problematic.

I’ve carried the same pistol for 30 years now, a TZ75S, 9mm, 13 rounds, all steel and walnut. At this point, it’s just and extention of my hand. For home defense, I have a Winchester model twelve, and a mini 14 by the bed.
I’ve had the rifle for 33 years, and the shotgun for 36. Yeah, I guess you could say I’m set in my ways.

My purse has a built-in holster where I keep my Ruger LCP 380. It fits both my purse and hand well. The purse is by TravelOn. It also has a bunch of convenient pockets.
