I like 1911s too. I have three. A Colt Series 70 Gold Cup is my most accurate hand gun. I have carried it before in winter, but it is heavy.
The most reliable is a revolver. It works the vast majority of the time despite dirt and neglect. It will go bang. I keep my weapons clean and thus opt for my Glocks and high capacity magazines. Others than Glock offer the same.
Define your need and select the proper weapon.

When I run outta bullets I can beat you to death with it.
If you want a light weight .357 try the SW PD340 - just under 12oz unloaded. But only 5 rounds.
Why do you carry a Sig if you hate it?
I had a Glock 30 for a while. It was a tack driver. I traded it for a Para Ordnance 12-45 because it had a thumb safety. The Para was accurate too, but not as much as the G30.

I have a 226 and a 229. The 229 has become my EDC.

There are a lot of correct opinions on the video and here, but many left off.

There are a few (G19 is mentioned everywhere obviously) which are more reliable than we ever need them to be; PX4s are among that list.

I traded a Raven .25 for a couple of tanks worth of gas money and a set of Chicago steak knives, in colorado.
I didn’t like the Raven and I’ve seen guys shot with 25s at least twice in my life and they both just sat it out until the ambulance arrived.
Sounds like you’re about 10,000 percent better armed than the hippie exploring the other end of the canyon.
I’d suggest a 158gr soft point round, same as one would carry for deer hunting...
And be proficient with it. Practice every chance you get. Nothing wrong with once a week.

Same here - .357 Magnum and a .38 special. Crude, simple and effective. The kind you can use when awakened from a sound sleep.
No question about the stopping power with that caliber.
No Colt Navy .36 either. Sheesh!
You are looking for a gun to carry while you look for and hopefully find the hangout and eating place of mountain lions, since it is for a purpose that requires you to enter it armed, why not carry a short shotgun or AR, a backup pistol and a good knife, or at least the shotgun and knife?
