Acclaimed actor Sam Neill has died, aged 78, surrounded by family in Sydney.
Neill’s death was sudden and unexpected after he was declared cancer free following an illness.
“It is with immense sadness that the whānau of Sam Neill share the news of his passing,” the family said in a social media post on Monday.
“Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterised his whole life.
“The loss was sudden and unexpected but blessed by the fact that Sam remained cancer free.”

He bragged about “only” smoking 3 cigarettes a day and never intended to stop or cut back. Made it to 78 doing that so not bad. Probably just should have stuck to nicotine gum.
Moreso since the fake vaxes. More cancers in advanced stages too.
R.I.P.
That’s 3
Good guy and actor - got be think tough - supposedly cancer-free after a little over 3 years, but never totally bounced back after the chemo - can’t remember the last time I actually felt good, even though my blood work is “acceptable” according to my Oncologist, and a Cardiologists declared my heart healthy - I worry I may leave my wife to fend for herself with little warning even though I exercise and try to stay fit....still never feel good. Busy getting all out financials in perfect order so at least she won’t have to worry about money if/when I’m gone.
Also Randolph Mantooth, Paramedic Johnny Gage from the TV show Emergency.
Agreed. When he first announced his cancer, it sounded very serious. I remember thinking that he did not have much time left when he announced. I think he said he was cancer-free at one point, but you always have to take those announcements with a grain of salt.
Hard to find now...but one of my favorites is “The Dish”. Story about the Australian site used for transmitting the Apollo 11 moonwalk. The usual Australian small-town quirkiness.
He did a great job in everything I have seen him do. Never knew him to do anything but his job, he didn’t try to tell the rest of us how to live that I knew of. He seemed likable.
RIP
In other words, the one sex scene in that movie may have been real (or as close to real as can be).
