A data mining facility is not even the same thing as a data center.

In any case, I find it hard to believe that the data mining facility could cause a 50% rise in utility rates all by itself. Who said that the data mining facility caused rate increases?

A quick search did not bring up anything about such a large increase.

For example this talks about an 8.5% increase from REMC back in 2025: https://www.facebook.com/SEIREMC/posts/-rate-update-coming-in-october-beginning-in-october-a-small-rate-adjustment-will/1340555474739853. Nothing like 50%.

I was paying about $90 a month for electricity, $30 for natural gas before that thing went online. Now I’m paying over $156-$200 for electricity, and $80-$140 a month for natural gas. You wanna see my bills. Don’t you dare call me a liar!
