Governor Janet Mills came in second behind Platner in the June 9 primary. Her name is nowhere to be found on the list of candidates.
Oh, and the statement that the convention is going to be open and all voice heard. I don’t believe that for a second. Oh the party will go through the motions of delegate selection but the 100 members of the center committee will decide who the nominee will be. My guess is that the committee members have already decided.
Responding to post 20.
Mills was no longer a candidate, but left her name on the ballot. She got 19% of the vote. She has said absoulutely nothing since this mess started on Monday. She was seen leaving the state for vacation.
There 8 people who have thrown their hat in the ring. They need to get 500 sigs to be incontention. The Maine Dems state committee is not really some group of party insiders. This convention is going to be a mess and possibly result in a hung jury with no consensus.
On a side note, the party has apparently canceled their annual summer Lobsterbake scheduled for Sunday, July 19. I already saw one county had scheduled their caucus for that date.

She dropped out. A conspiracy theorist would say she was told to drop out because there was so much dirt on Platner and she would be appointed later. It became a guaranteed nomination if she dropped out.
The conspirist would also say she was told she only had to win in November and would be replaced by another party favorite when she chose to resign from the Senate.
