Just as every filmmaker is "award-winning filmmaker so-and-so."
In the old days, before Amazon, to be a "best-selling author" meant you appeared on either the New York Times or Publisher's Weekly lists. Time, Newsweek and the Los Angeles Times created their own lists, but they weren't regarded seriously by the industry. Not really official.
Then Amazon came. And Kindle and self-publishing. And Amazon created so many sub-categories, that it's easy to appear on their lists. I self-published a Kindle book that rose to double digits on one list, and it only sold one copy a week.
Same with film awards. Grok says there are about 12,500 film festivals worldwide. That doesn't include film awards without a festival, such as the Oscars, but there are many smaller film awards.
I know someone who is an actual multi-million selling author. It’s remarkably rare.
"Just tell me this, Montag, at a guess, How many literary awards were made in this country, on an average each year?...Anybody that put pen to paper was bound to win some prize someday." - Fahrenheit 451 movie
There are tons of barbecue contests too.

Lol....yep even Fox news is becoming like this. Seems every talking head there has a book now. And they just appear on each other's shows to promote their book. Especially their medical expert.....he or the host always has to mention his book first. It's getting very annoying.
