Norway’s goalie should have punched the ball back out. He would have at least had some control as to where the ball was going to go. Trying to catch it with those gloves more fit for Mickey Mouse ensured the ball would come off his body soft and lay right in front of his own goal for free-for-all

Was he that exhausted to continue?

Getting back on defense he’s either walking or slowly jogging.

Did the coach think that sitting your most potent offensive weapon and subbing him with someone who never plays was the best strategy to try and get a tying goal?

He seemed fine until England went ahead and the shot of him immediately after that goal was a look of total dejection and defeat.

I don’t remember ever seeing Gretzky or Lemieux just skate off the ice in OT of a playoff game never to return.
