World Cup gets political as Egypt coach taunted with flag after Argentina controversy

Argentine fans defiantly waved the flag of Israel in the stands during Tuesday’s match against Egypt after the Pharaoh’s head coach, Hossam Hassan, expressed sympathy for Palestine.

During Egypt’s 3-2 loss to Argentina in the round of 16, two fans were seen holding the Israeli flag in a 100-level section at Atlanta Stadium. Last week, Hassan — who alleged that the reigning world champions were given special treatment from the referees — donned a Palestinian flag over his shoulders while celebrating his squad’s round-of-32 victory over Australia, which marked the nation’s first-ever World Cup knockout win.

Speaking to reporters during a pre-match press conference, Hassan was asked to shed light on what emotions he was feeling after taking the Palestinian flag out onto the pitch. After the match, one of his players claimed the tournament was "fixed" after Egypt's exit.

“If a person anywhere in the world does not feel for the Palestinian people, then they have lost part of their humanity,” he replied, per Reuters. “What came out of me was simply a human reaction. Before being Arab, Muslim, Christian or anything else, I am a human being.

“Through football — the world’s soft power — I want to send a message: please let the Palestinian people live. I ask athletes and journalists everywhere to help deliver that ‌message. When people speak about human rights, animal rights, and justice, we should also speak about Palestinian civilians.”

Good! Egypt had a two-goal lead with less than twenty minutes to play.... no matter what happened after they can't blame the refs. As for the Pallie flags.... why isn't Egypt accepting Palestinian refugees (they aren't)?!

Now, there is a set of mythical creatures ... there is no such thing as a "palestinian civilian".
