I haven’t seen the 1984 miniseries. Do you recommend it?
I watch very few series; I burn out on them after the first couple of episodes. I’m more a movie person: tell a story, keep it tight, bring it to a conclusion. Young Washington is two hours. (One source says 122 minutes, another two hours and five minutes, and I ain’t gonna worry about that.) Over and done.
I thought it was quite good for a 1980s take on Washington even with the one thing I ranted about! Still don’t understand why anyone thought that was necessary!
The second series a sequel, George Washington II: The Forging of a Nation, aired in 1986. I thought was also excellent.
Both based on James Flexner’s histories.
